Thematic Portfolio #2: Images From Images Project

write a short reflection about how the work turned out. What do you think are the successful aspects of your work?

It turned out better than i had expected. It started off slow but when i got all the key details done it got a lot easier. It was hard trying to find something in the note cards that would be perfect together.

Planning the Symbolic Still Life Project

Describe briefly your plan for The Symbolic Still Life project. Explain what kinds of objects you think you will use and why...how do they relate to some aspect of your theme. How will you arrange them and why? What materials will you use for this project and how big will you be working and why?

I will be using the painting of a church that i made sophomore year, the nutcracker, a cook book, and a guitar. they will be draw onto black paper to make it stand out more. i will not be making a very big picture because i want to be able to focus on the details. i will be using colored pencils.

Planning for Opposites Project

Describe briefly what you plan to do for the Opposites project. Be sure to describe your intentions, how your concept relates to your theme, and technically how you plan to create the work.

My intentions for this project is to show that on one side...
someone can be good on the inside and bad on the outside
and on the other side is that...
someone can be bad on the inside and good on the outside.
It is to show that no one is as perfect as they may seem. It relates to identity because you are who you are no matter how good/bad you may look or how good/bad you are on the inside.

Essential Questions

Essential Questions:

How do artists develop content and ideas for their work?

They brainstorm and write down their ideas before they start their projects.

What kinds of techniques, behaviors, and habits allow artists to turn their ideas into meaningful works of art that engage the viewer?

They write down everything that comes to mind and fully push themselves into the idea that

they have chosen.

Statement of purpose:

What questions can you formulate about your theme (at least 4)?

Who am I?

I am many things

What makes me what I am?

what makes me who I am is what I do in life.

Why makes me so different?

Everyone is different in their own unique way.

Where am I from?

I am from Boston. But that is not where I feel that I am from. I am from France.

How does your theme connect to your life?

The theme connects to my life because I was adopted and to me my identity is not complete.

How does your theme connect to the world around you?

It connects to the fact that everyone has their own identity and life.

What kinds of images come to mind when you think about your theme?

Images that come to mind are sports, the activities I do, what my birth-mother looks like, showing how my

Identity has changed over the years.

What kinds of art or visual information (advertising, tv, film) have you seen that relates to your theme?

There isn't really anything that I can think of right now that could relate to my theme.

Why did you choose this theme and how can you envision exploring it through works of art over the course of the term?

Without knowing who my birth-parents are in order to know who I am. There are many things that can

make up ones identity. It is endless, because everyday you learn something new.
